A training workshop on the principles of working with laboratory animals was organized by the National Research Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Health in Urmia.
The training workshop on the principles of working with laboratory animals was held by the National Research Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Health and hosted by the Vice President of Research and Technology of Urmia University of Medical Sciences and the Laboratory Animal Research and Breeding Center of the Faculty of Pharmacy on July 27 and 28, 2017.
This workshop had two theoretical and practical parts, in the theoretical part, the ethical and scientific requirements and international laws governing the use of laboratory animals, familiarization with the biological characteristics and maintenance standards of laboratory animals, safety principles in working with laboratory animals and familiarization with Diseases common to humans and animals, the principles of sampling and administration of substances, the methods of diagnosing pain and suffering in laboratory animals, the principles of analgesia and anesthesia in laboratory animals, and the criteria and methods of termination of work with laboratory animals were discussed, and in the practical part of familiarization Behaviors of typical laboratory animals, restraint, handling, gender identification, sampling and drug administration methods, anesthesia/analgesia, and anesthesia management were taught.
On the first day of the workshop, after reading the message of the president of the university by Dr. Mohebi, vice president of research and technology of the university, Dr. Samadzadeh gave a speech on ethics in research. Next, Dr. Maleki Nejad, Dr. Ahmadi Nurbakhsh, Dr. Mohammadzadeh, Dr. Shalizar and Dr. Nazafarin Qasimzadeh gave speeches.
On the second day, the practical part was held by Dr. Ahmadi Nourbakhsh, a specialist in veterinary surgery and consultant of the Ministry's National Ethics Committee, in the morning and evening.
The participants were from Tabriz, Ardabil, Maragheh, Sarab, Khoy and Urmia universities of medical sciences.
Finally, all participants were given valid certificates.
