Swiss outbred mice are an albino stock, produces many litters which are useful in toxicology and pharmacology studies. This strain is moderatory prone to the development of atherosclerosis. Aged mice show a high prevalence of breast and lung tumors. By increasing age, they suffer from polydipsia and polyuria caused by nephrogenic diabetes. This strain is useful for generating transgenic mice because they are high responsive to exogenous hormones. Swiss Outbred mice is versatile outbred mouse, used in all areas of biomedical research (general studies), it is used as donor and/or recipient of embryos.
