Preclinical studies
Laboratory animals play a significant role and are employed as the most crucial tools in the biomedical sciences' quest for advancement and the discovery of undiscovered phenomena. Test medical, cosmetic, biological, and pharmaceutical products on people. Animals that are emotionally and physically healthy are necessary for valid study in this area. In order to standardize animal investigations, their upkeep and reproduction are done in accordance with our international standards. This facility excels at breeding five different breeds of SPF and Inbred mice from the tribes of BALB/cJRj, C57BL/6JRj, CBA/JRj, DBA/2JRj, and RjOrl:SWISS.
Laboratory animal research and breeding center
The Urmia Faculty of Pharmacy oversaw the operation of the 500 square meter Laboratory Animal Research and Reproduction Center of Urmia University of Medical Sciences, which is responsible for the reproduction, breeding, and upkeep of laboratory animals. This facility is located on the university's campus in Nazlo. This center helps students and instructors with their dissertation work and research projects by offering facilities such reproduction and reproduction rooms for each animal, behavioral study rooms, surgery rooms, and research laboratories. Due to the significance of these environmental conditions, laboratory animals are prepared in accordance with the international standard of the NIH publication from 2011 and are continuously monitored and managed by intelligent systems.
Ventilation
The room's ventilation needs to be enough to maintain the right level of oxygen in the air and lower the concentration of pollutants like carbon dioxide and ammonia. The suggested ventilation speed for the room housing mice is 10 to 15 times per hour. Filtered air enters the rooms through the air system that was constructed in this center, while polluted air escapes. SPF mice are kept in boxes with specific filters that are routinely replaced.
Temperature and humidity
It is typically advised to keep mice in rooms with humidity levels between 30 and 70%. Studies have shown that keeping mice in relative humidity between 45 and 60% will increase their efficiency in reproduction. If the humidity is set within this range, the ideal ambient temperature is between 68 and 96 degrees Fahrenheit (20 and 21 degrees Celsius)
Light
the light A light of less than 325 lux (30 foot-candles) set from one meter above the room floor is recommended for albino animal keeping rooms. High light can cause retinal damage in albino animals. In laboratory mice, photoperiod is much more important than high light intensity and has a major impact on reproduction. Common photoperiod for laboratory mice is 12:12 light to dark
Noise
It has been proven that noise of more than 85 decibels is potentially harmful to humans and animals, so the noise intensity in the mice room should be kept as low as possible.
